When we hear the words "diverse" or "diversity", we tend to think of cultural differences. In the classroom, however, diversity goes beyond the color of someone's skin.

In preparation for reading chapter 9, think about these questions (we will also begin class by discussing these):

Thought-provoking questions...

1. Besides race and culture, in what ways do students differ from each other?

2. Read and think about what this statement means:

Fair doesn't mean you get the same thing as everyone else; it means you get what you need to be successful.

3. How can you promote fairness among your students?

4. What is the social environment in your practicum classroom?

5. What does "differentiation" mean?

YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR DIFFERENTIATION OF INSTRUCTION HANDBOOK AND A SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER MANUAL FOR CLASS ON APRIL 2!!!!

ASSIGNMENT: Read chapter 9 and complete the attached study guide. E-mail this to Mrs. Engle by 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1.
